C.A.R.E. Program Sponsors Valentines for Veterans

MOUNT PLEASANT - Central Michigan's student-athletes celebrated Valentine's Day by honoring America's military veterans.

The Central Athletes Reaching Everyone (C.A.R.E.) program, CMU athletics' community relations program, initiated and sponsored a partnership with Volunteer Central in which student-athletes created valentines to be sent to military veterans. Volunteer Central's annual Valentines for Veterans initiative "involves the CMU campus community in recognizing veterans for their service and showing them love in honor of Valentine's Day."

CMU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and representatives of each of CMU's 16 sport programs created close to 75 Valentine's Day cards at the Dick Enberg Academic Center in the Indoor Athletic Complex. The cards will be delivered to veterans at the VA Health Care System in Ann Arbor as well as the The Aleda E. Lutz  VA Medical Center in Saginaw.

The C.A.R.E. program is continually striving to give back to the communities surrounding the greater Mount Pleasant area. Click here for more information on the C.A.R.E. program.
