MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan graduate Shane Starr has joined the Chippewa Athletic Fund as an assistant director.

“Shane has a passion for CMU, a proven track record of generating revenue and will cultivate relationships that will help to move our department forward,” said Craig Willey, Senior Associate Athletic Director/External Operations. “I’m very happy to have Shane back in the CMU family. He is an outstanding young man who will certainly be an asset to the Chippewa Athletic Fund, the athletic department, and the university on the whole.”

Among Starr’s day-to-day responsibilities will be to cultivate relationships with benefactors, alumni and staff in order to secure financial support for CMU student-athletes.

While working toward his master’s degree, Starr worked as a graduate assistant with the Chippewa Athletic Fund. Among his many duties were to assist in fundraising, to include organizing and administration of the membership drive and annual fund campaign, the organization of CAF hospitality areas for home football and basketball games, and the supervising of student staff.

Starr also worked as a graduate assistant with the CMU men’s basketball program after serving the team as a student manager.

After earning his master’s degree from CMU, Starr worked in the University of Tennessee athletics department as a development assistant.
