2009 Boys Basketball Summer Camps


Coach Ernie Zeigler and his staff have brought an exciting brand of basketball to CMU. They're inviting you to attend one of the team's educational basketball camps this summer to develop and improve your skills on the court while having fun and meeting new friends.  Each of the camps will include:  1) shooting, ball-handling, defensive drills and expert instruction from CMU coaching staff, 2) 12:1 player to coach ratio in a setting where campers are divided by age/position for skill development 3) personal evaluation of skills by camp coach and 4) air conditioned facilities. 

Position Skills Camp
June 14-16, 2009
Grades:  5-12
Cost:  $365 Boarding (meals and housing) or $260 Commuting (lunches only)
Registration:  11:30 a.m. - Noon
Camp Ends:  8:00 p.m. on the last day

This specialized teaching camp separates the areas of post play and perimeter play in one camp.  The campers are grouped by age and position.  There is a tremendous focus on offensive and defensive skill development.

Individual Technique Camp
June 23-25, 2009
Grades:  5-12
Cost:  $365 Boarding (meals and housing) or $260 Commuting (lunch provided)
Registration:  8:00-9:00 a.m.
Camp Ends:  8:00 p.m. on the last day

All aspects of the game are covered.  A large emphasis is placed on both skill development and daily competition.  Each camper will compete in several league and individual contests.

Day Camp
June 23-25, 2009
Grades:  1-4
Cost:  $105 Commuting only (lunch provided)
Registration:  8:00-9:00 a.m.
Camp Runs:  8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. daily

The emphasis on this camp is putting the "fun" in fundamentals.  There is a strong commitment to teaching the basic fundamentals of the game.

Central Michigan’s indoor athletic facilities cover more than 500,000 square feet, including the multimillion-dollar Indoor Athletic Complex, completed in 1999.  The facility features a 100-yard turf bay with eight batting cages, a 200-meter track bay and a 7,500 square-foot strength and conditioning center.  The nearby Student Activity Center features a 6, 800 square-foot weight fitness center, aquatic center and more.

Group Discounts:  are available in groups of 10 or more.  Please contact the camp office for details at 800-CMU-4-FUN.

REFUND POLICY:  Cancellations 72 hours (three days) or more before the start of camp will be refunded in full, minus a nonrefundable $50 deposit.  Cancellations after the 72-hour period before the start of camp will be refunded up to 50 percent of the amount paid, minus the nonrefundable deposit.  After camps begin, prorated refunds are given only in instances of illness or injury.  Please submit refund requests in writing by e-mail cmucamps@cmich.edu, fax 989-774-2540, or mail (postmark date applies).  June camp refund request will be considered if received by July 3, 2009.  July camp refund requests will be considered if received by August 4, 2009.


Each camp participant must have received a physical examination within the year before attending camp and must be certified by his or her physician as physically able to participate in the sports camp.  CMU will provide a fully qualified trainer during instruction times.

Medical bills are the responsibility of the participant’s parent or guardian.  CMU carries excess medical insurance with limits up to $2,000 per accident per participant, subject to a $500 deductible.  This means the coverage is in excess of the participant’s own insurance, or in excess of a $500 deductible, whichever amount is greater.  The deductible and any other medical expenses not covered by insurance are the responsibility of the participant’s parent or guardian.

Campers must attend all sessions unless excused for medical reasons.  Campers who do not follow conduct rules for camp will be dismissed without a fee refund.  Use of drugs or alcohol is prohibited.  CMU reserves the right to cancel any of its sports camps up to one month before the starting date of the camp.
