CMU Athletic Teams to Host 17th Annual Jock Rock Fundraiser

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will host the 17th annual Jock Rock competition this Sunday, April 10, in an effort to raise funds for the American Red Cross relief efforts in Japan.

Teams of Chippewa student-athletes from baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, cross country, field hockey, football, track and field, soccer, volleyball and wrestling will trade in their jerseys for costumes as they battle for the title of Jock Rock Champion in a competition of lip syncing and dancing in front of four judges.

Doors to Warriner Hall’s Plachta Audiorium open at 6:30 p.m.; tickets to the 7 p.m. program cost $4 at the door, and all proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross.

Last year’s event raised $1,600 for Kids in Distressed Situations for Haiti.
