Helps, a junior shortstop, batted .600 (9-for-15) with two doubles, two triples, a home run, six runs and seven RBI as CMU went 3-1 last week. He had at least two hits in all four games. In the weekend series at Akron, Helps was 7-for-11 with five runs, six RBI and four extra-base hits. In Friday's series opener at Akron, Helps delivered a two-out, bases-loaded triple in the sixth inning that stretched CMU's lead to 4-0 in an eventual 6-1 win. In CMU's 28-12 win in the series finale, he was 2-for-4 with a walk, double, homer, three runs and three RBI. He had a two-run double in the Chippewas' 11-run fourth inning in that game.
Helps maintains a 3.39 grade-point average as an entrepreneurship major.
