Three Chippewas Selected for NCAA Career in Sports Forum

MOUNT PLEASANT – The NCAA Career in Sports Forum is a four-day event where selected student athletes can explore different careers in sports, primarily focusing on intercollegiate athletics.

Three Central Michigan University student-athletes were chosen among 1,100 nominations. Katelyn Christensen and Misha Lamphere, both women's track and field athletes, and football player Armond Staten were chosen to represent CMU at this year's event which runs June 12-15 in Indianapolis. CMU will be one of just five MAC institutions represented at the event.

The selected student-athletes will participate in the forum's dual tracks, examining the key functions of a coach or administrator within sports. Foundational skills such as communication, networking, recruiting, managing culture, transitioning and budgeting will be covered with participants.

The coaching track will be conducted in a rotation of NCAA sponsored sports, which include cross country/track and field, basketball, field hockey, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. The administrator track will focus on the internal and external operations of an intercollegiate athletics department, which includes academics, communications, compliance, development, event management and marketing. The forum will be provided at no cost to the participants.
