Heeke Named to Division I Athletic Director Advisory Group

Mount Pleasant, Mich. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association announced today the appointment of Central Michigan University Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Dave Heeke to the Division I Athletic Director Advisory Group.

The Division I athletic director community determined membership for this ad hoc group. The group will meet periodically with NCAA President Mark Emmert and his staff to provide feedback and perspective on issues affecting DI athletics.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for Dave, and I am excited that he will be representing Central Michigan University on this prestigious committee," CMU President George E. Ross said. "Dave has always represented CMU well both locally and nationally. This university, its faculty and staff are industry leaders in higher education.  This is a critical opportunity for the NCAA and Dave to shape the future agenda on the success of the student-athlete."

Providing leadership at the national level has been an important part of Heeke’s tenure at CMU. He currently serves on the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee and just finished a five-year appointment on the Division I Football Issues Committee, serving as the chair in 2012-13. He also served on the baseball committee from 2006-08.

Heeke is also a leader within the conference, currently serving as the chair of the MAC athletic directors committee.

"I am honored and humbled by this appointment to the NCAA's Division I Athletic Director Advisory Group," Heeke said. "Being able to represent CMU and the Mid-American Conference is a great responsibility that I take very seriously and I look forward to the challenges ahead and working with Mark Emmert and his staff."
