Amy Roloff Named CMU's Homecoming Grand Marshal

MOUNT PLEASANT -- A prominent Central Michigan University alumna has been tapped to lead the university's Homecoming festivities this year. Amy (Knight) Roloff, who earned a business degree from CMU in 1985 and now stars with her family on TLC's "Little People, Big World," will serve as CMU's 2008 Homecoming grand marshal.

"It's overwhelming to be chosen as grand marshal. I would have never thought this would happen. It's exciting," Roloff said. "CMU means a lot to me, and as the years go by, you're a lot more reflective. It's an honor and a privilege."

CMU's Homecoming festivities will take place Oct. 10 and 11. As grand marshal, Roloff will lead the Saturday-morning parade and will participate in a halftime ceremony during the football game.

"Amy has achieved a great amount of success and notoriety since leaving CMU, particularly with the television show," said Chris Austin, CMU's associate director of alumni relations. "Amy's presence at Homecoming will certainly add to the already festive atmosphere, and it is obvious from speaking with her that serving as the 2008 Homecoming grand marshal is going to be a thrill for her and is something that she is really looking forward to."

Since Roloff's graduation from CMU, her career has included working as a personnel assistant for a manufacturing firm and as an administrative assistant for product development managers at Hewlett-Packard. She currently is a preschool teacher and also is an administrator for a Portland, Ore.-area soccer club. Her volunteer work includes past service on the boards of Little People of America and her children's school. At present, Roloff is a parent volunteer at her children's school, an outreach speaker, a soccer coach and a Sunday school teacher.

"Little People, Big World" chronicles the life of the Roloff family, including Livonia native Amy and her husband, Matt - both of whom are active members of Little People of America - and their children, twins Zach and Jeremy, daughter Molly, and youngest son Jacob. The Roloffs live on and operate Roloff Farms, a 34-acre property near Portland, Ore.
