For thirty-two years, Dan was with the athletic department at Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI. On his retirement plaque, it reads, “For 27 of those years, Dan served as the Athletic Equipment Coordinator and head equipment man for the Central Michigan football team. Over this time, Dan demonstrated tremendous dedication to the coaches and players that he served.” Dan was more than a man that issued equipment. He mentored, counseled, and affected the character and lives of everyone he met. Hundreds of young men are better people because of this man known to most as just “Book.” Dan developed strong friendships with athletic directors, coaches, staff, athletes, and friends at CMU.
