Football Video Operations Coordinator
Jay McDowell serves as Central Michigan football’s video coordinator, a position he has held since 2010.
McDowell was named the Mid-American Conference Video Coordinator of the Year in 2015 by the Collegiate Sports Video Association.
The award, which is voted on by video coordinators at each MAC institution, is based on quality of work and professionalism.
McDowell oversees the Chippewas’ state-of-the-art video analysis system, the DragonFly game exchange system, eight student workers, the maintenance of the recruiting video database, manages the Chippewas’ iPad video and playbook system, coordinates the filming of all practices and games, and the production of highlight films and graphics.
McDowell came to CMU from Southern Mississippi where he spent five years as the director of video operations and the assistant athletic director for sports technology.
McDowell served as the director of video operations at Louisiana at Monroe for five years, and in 2000 earned his first conference video coordinator of the year. McDowell has also worked at Colorado.
McDowell and his wife Misty have a son, Dakota, and a daughter, Mia Isabel.
