Reed Schuitema is set to begin his second season as Central Michigan’s Director of Football Operations.

Schuitema oversees the day-to-day operations of the football program.  His duties include coordinating team travel, bowl game preparations, facility updates, and budget management in addition to many other various duties assigned by the Head Football Coach.  Schuitema also serves as Coach Bonamego’s liaison to many departments within the athletic department and across campus.

Schuitema came Central Michigan from fellow MAC institution, Miami University, where he served as Director of Football Operations during the 2011-2013 seasons.  As a member of Don Treadwell’s staff, Schuitema served as liaison to the Mid-American Conference Office, academics, compliance, equipment, and training departments.  Schuitema also served as Summer Camp Director, coordinated team travel, among numerous additional duties during his tenure with Miami. 

Schuitema previously spent time at Michigan State working as a graduate assistant for Mark Dantonio in football operations during the 2009 and 2010 seasons, assisting with team travel preparations, bowl game preparations, and on-campus recruiting efforts.  During his time at Michigan State, the Spartans went to two bowl games (2009 Alamo, 2010 Capital One) in addition to winning the 2010 Big Ten Championship. 

From 2005-2009, Schuitema worked as a student manager for Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Men’s Basketball team.  Schuitema was heavily involved preparing video among other various additional duties with the program.  During his time working with Men’s Basketball, the Spartans went to four NCAA tournaments, made a sweet sixteen appearance, and appeared in the 2009 Final Four, also winning the 2009 Big Ten Championship.

A native of Muskegon, Michigan, Schuitema received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management from Michigan State in 2009 and his Master’s degree from Michigan State in Sports Administration in 2010.  He attended Mona Shores High School, serving as a team captain of the football team, while also participating in hockey and tennis.
