To qualify, a student-athlete must have a 3.2 or better grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of his or her team’s competitions.
Junior Kevin Weiler placed 23rd in the men’s shot put at the regional with a toss of 59-8 ¼, a personal best. His previous outdoor best was 58-6.
The meet gets underway on Thursday and runs through Saturday. Each event features 48 participants and the top 12 finishers in each advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore. June 6-9.
The CMU men finished with 115 points, more than doubling their point total from the 2017 league meet. Connor Covert continued the tradition of strong performances by Chippwea throwers, earning the Men’s Field Freshman of the Year Award.
