MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Six Central Michigan student-athletes were named on Monday to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference wrestling team.
Two Chippewas, CJ Brucki and Mason Smith, were named to the squad for the second consecutive season. Brucki is a senior from Orland Park, Ill. who is majoring in accounting and carries a 3.20 grade point average; Smith, a sophomore from Clio, carries a 3.56 GPA and is undecided on a major.
Also named to the squad from CMU were Jordan Atienza, Drew Hildebrandt, Blake Montrie and Dresden Simon.
Atienza is a junior from Livonia who is majoring in finance. He carries a 3.28 GPA. Hildebrant, a redshirt freshman from Granger, Ind. carries a 3.49 GPA; Montrie, a redshirt freshman from Temperance, carried a 3.94 GPA; and Simon, also a redshirt freshman, carries a 3.56 GPA and hails from Dansville. Hildebrandt, Montrie and Simon have yet to declare a major.
To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.2 or better grade point average and participate in at least 50 percent of his team's meets or tournaments. True freshmen and first-year transfers are ineligible.
