MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan swept the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week Awards.
Taylor Aguillon of the Chippewa women’s team and Bransen Stimpfel of the men’s team were honored for their performances in the annual season-opening Jeff Drenth Memorial at Pleasant Hills Golf Course.
Aguillon, a senior from Dimondale who was making her CMU varsity debut after spending two years with the CMU Running Club, led the Chippewa women to a second-place finish by posting a time of 17 minutes, 21.20 seconds. She finished second in the race.
Stimpfel, a sophomore from Cass City, was the first man across the finish line, notching the first victory of his collegiate career in a personal-best 15:55.30. He broke his 5K personal record by more than 50 seconds.
