The Central Michigan women’s basketball team fell Thursday in the first round of the Women’s National Invitation Tournament against Wright State, 66-64.
Thursday’s game features two of the nation’s best rebounders in CMU’s Reyna Frost and Wright State’s Lexi Smith. Frost ranks sixth among NCAA Division I players at 11.3 boards per game, while Smith leads the nation with 6.0 offensive rebounds per game.
The start time of Thursday’s game will be announced on Tuesday. The CMU-Wright State winner will play either Michigan or Kent State in a second-round game. Second-round games are scheduled for March 18-21.
The Chippewas (23-8) will await a bid to the Women’s NIT. Western (19-12), which dropped both regular-season meetings to CMU, advances to the semifinals on Friday.
