LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. - The Central Michigan women's golf team fell to Eastern Michigan, 4-1, Monday in the first round of the season opening Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge on the Royal Lakes course at Lakewood Ranch Golf & Country Club.
Monday's second-round matches were postponed because of rain. The Chippewas will play Akron in a nine-hole match on Tuesday and will follow with their final match of the event, also a nine-holer.
Chloe Guschewski defeated Lois Schoof, 2 up, for CMU's only victory on Monday against the Eagles.
In other matches, Kylie Raines defeated Amanda Walsh, 4 and 3; Thelma Beck topped Natalie Johnson, 6 and 5; Karyn Lee Ping downed Grace Labrecque, 5 and 3; and Kelsey Murphy defeated Arielle Roberts, 4 and 3.
Eastern Michigan was the No. 1 seed in the event and will play third-seeded Bowling Green to open play on Tuesday.
