Roberts Leads CMU Golfers in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Arielle Roberts shot 82 Monday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team in the first round of the Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

The 36-hole tournament, which is hosted by Butler, is scheduled to conclude with Tuesday's 18-hole round.

The Chippewas shot 353 as a team and stand in eighth-place at the midway point of the 10-team event. Butler shot 314 on Monday for a 10-shot lead over second-place Cleveland State.

Roberts is tied for 13th place in the 61-player field. Sophie Kelner of Cleveland State leads after a 75. Three players are tied for second, one shot back.

Also for CMU, Natalie Johnson posted an 87, Kristen Wolfe and Amanda Walsh both shot 89, Hannah Matthies shot 93, Chloe Guschewski carded a 95, and Grace Labrecque came in at 99.

Johnson is among a group tied for 26th place, while Wolfe and Walsh are tied for 32nd with two other players.
