JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Central Michigan freshman Arielle Roberts shot a 3-over par 75 Tuesday to finish third in the Benbow Women's Golf Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Course.
Roberts finished with a two-day, 36-hole total of 157, two shots behind co-medalists Allyson Hackman and Sophie Kelner, both of Cleveland State.
Roberts' 75 tied the school 18-hole record, which she set during a tournament last fall. Laurie Rederstorf also shot 75 for CMU during a tournament in 1982.
The Chippewas resurrected women's golf last fall after a 30-plus year hiatus.
CMU shot a two-day 697 total to finish eighth in the 10-team field. The Chippewas carded a 344 in Tuesday's second round, improving by nine shots the score they posted in Monday's opening round.
Butler shot 314-330 - 644 to win the event, which it hosted. Cleveland State shot 324-334 - 658 to finish second.
Also for CMU on Tuesday, Amanda Walsh and Grace Labrecque both shot 89; Natalie Johnson and Chloe Guschewski both shot 90; Kristen Wolfe shot 93; and Hannah Matthies shot 106.
Johnson finished with a 177 total to tie for 31st, Walsh tied for 33rd at 178, and Wolfe finished at 182 to tie for 37th.
The Chippewas are scheduled to begin play on Wednesday in the two-day, 36-hole Bulldog Florida Invitational at Windsor Parke Golf Club. It is also hosted by Butler.
