CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Chloe Guschewski shot a 10-over 82 Sunday to tie for 11th place and lead the Central Michigan women's golf team to sixth place in the 21st annual Saluki Invitational, hosted by Southern Illinois.
The Chippewas finished the opening 18-hole round of the two-day, 36-hole event at Hickory Ridge Golf Course, which plays to par 72 over 6, 018 yards.
The final 18-hole round of the 11-team event is scheduled for Monday. Southern Illinois Edwardsville shot 318 on Sunday for a seven-shot lead over second-place Southern Illinois. The Chippewas recorded a 344 team score, one shot ahead of seventh-place Nebraska-Omaha.
Also for CMU Hannah Matthies shot 84, Natalie Johnson posted an 88, Kristien Wolfe shot 89, and Grace Labrecque finished at 91. Matthies is tied for 22nd, while Johnson is tied for 35th.
Mattie Lindner of Southern Illinois shot a 2-over 74 and stands in first place after Sunday's opening round. Molly Marcum of SIU-Edwardsville is second, two shot back.
