NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Senior Kristen Wolfe shot a 6-over 78 to lead the Central Michigan golf team during the first round of the Mid-American Conference Championship at Naperville Country Club.
The Chippewas posted a 321 team score and is tied for eighth place with Ball State in the 10-team field. CMU and Ball State are two shots behind seventh-place Ohio (319) and three behind sixth-place Western Michigan (318).
Wolfe is among a group tied for 20th in the 50-player field.
Also for the Chippewas on Friday, Bria Colosky shot 80, Jami Laude posted an 81, Natalie Johnson carded an 82, and Meghan Deardorff shot 85.
The second round of the 54-hole tournament is scheduled for Saturday and the third and final round is slated for Sunday.
Pimnipa Panthong of Kent State shot a 5-under 67 on Friday and holds a three-shot lead over teammate Chloe Salort. Kent State's Michaela Finn is third after a 1-under 71.
The Golden Flashes, who are ranked 18th nationally, posted a 6-under 282 team score and leads second-place Toledo (303) by 21 shots.
