NOBLESVILLE, Ind. - Natalie Johnson shot a 6-over par 78 Saturday to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team during the second round of the Mid-American Conference championships at Purgatory Golf Club.
The third and final round of the tournament is scheduled for Sunday.
The Chippewas posted a 321 team score on Saturday and stand in 10th place in the 10-team field with a 638 total.
Also for the Chippewas in Saturday's second round, Kristen Wolfe shot 80, Hannah Matthies shot 81, Bria Colosky posted an 82, and Holly Hines shot 95.
Johnson, who opened with a 3-over 75 on Friday, is among a group tied for 28th with a 153 total. Colosky is at 159, Wolfe at 161, and Matthies at 165.
Fifty players comprise the field.
Kent State, which is vying for its 18th consecutive MAC title, is first at 579, three shots ahead of Toledo (582). The Golden Flashes, who are ranked 13th, shot a 3-under 285 on Saturday. Ohio (593) is third.
Danielle Nicholson of Akron shot a 1-under 71 on Saturday and stands at 4-under for the event, two shots ahead of Emily Hughes of Ohio and Pimchanok Kawil of Toledo.
Kent State's Wad Phaewchimplee shot a MAC Championships record 4-under 68 on Saturday and is fourth at 1-under for the tournament.
