EAST LANSING, Mich. - Arielle Roberts shot 81-82 - 163 to lead the Central Michigan women's golf team Saturday on Day 1 of the 54-hole Mary Fossum Invitational on Forest Akers East Golf Course at Michigan State University.
Roberts is tied for 63rd in the 87-player field. Amanda Walsh shot 84-85 - 169 for the Chippewas, who posted a 685 team score in Saturday's first two rounds and stand in 15th place, two shots behind 14th-place Ferris State.
Host Michigan State leads the Invitational with a 599 team score.
The tournament is scheduled to conclude on Sunday with the third and final round. Also for CMU on Saturday, Chloe Guschewski shot 88-85 - 173, Kristen Wolfe came in at 93-87 - 180, and Holly Hines shot 94-90 - 184.
Sarah Burnham of Michigan State leads the tournament after shooting 75-70 - 145 on Saturday. Gabrielle Shipley of Grand Valley State is second, one shot back. Notre Dame is in second place, seven shots behind the Spartans. Toledo, Michigan and Houston round out the top five.
