Chippewa Golfers Shoot 641 at MSU

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Central Michigan golf team shot 641 Saturday and stands in 12th place in the Michigan State Mary Fossum Invitational at Forest Akers West Golf Course.

The third and final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for Sunday at 9 a.m.

The Chippewas shot 325 in Saturday's opening round, then posted a 316 in the second. They stand 14 shots behind 11th-place Xavier.

Natalie Johnson shot 78-79 - 157 to lead the Chippewas. She is among a group tied for 41st. CMU's Kristen Wolfe shot 82-77 - 159 and is tied for 49th.

Also for the Chippewas, Bria Colosky shot 80-84 - 164, Holly Hines shot 85-81 - 166, and Danielle Sawyer shot 87-79 - 166. CMU's Katie Logan, playing as an individual, shot 82-82 - 164.

Seventy-two players and 12 teams comprise the field.

Miami (Fla.) shot 286-283 - 569 for a 7-under par total and a commanding 30-shot lead over second-place Princeton.

Miami's Delfina Acosta and Michigan State's Sarah Burnham are tied for the top spot at 141. Acosta shot 70-71, Burnham 71-70.
