Andy Sneddon,

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan women's golf team recorded a cumulative grade point average of 3.55 for the fall semester.

Five of the eight student-athletes on the team - Natalie Johnson, Grace Labrecque, Hannah Matthies, Arielle Roberts, Kristen Wolfe -- recorded a GPA of 3.50 or better.

CMU resurrected its women's golf program in 2014 after a 32-year hiatus.

"I'm extremely proud of the student-athletes that we have in our program," said Cheryl Stacy, who was named the Chippewas' coach in December. "Their grade point averages are a result of their dedication in the classroom, and is an example of their work ethic. The results show the type of young women we have in the program."
