MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Central Michigan women's golf team will open its spring schedule on Feb. 9-10 at the Women's Mid-American Match Play Challenge in Lakewood Ranch, Fla.
The schedule comprises six tournaments, culminating with the Mid-American Conference Championship at Shaker Run Golf Club in Lebanon, Ohio, April 24-26.
"I am very excited about our upcoming spring schedule," first-year coach Cheryl Stacy said. "The variety of teams we will compete against along with the different venues will provide excellent preparation for our MAC Championship in April.
"I'm looking forward to taking the entire team on a spring break trip where everyone can compete and see how we measure up to our competition. This spring break trip will also be a great team bonding opportunity as we transition together as a new team."
CMU resurrected its program last fall after a 32-year hiatus.
The season-opening Mid-American Match Play will be played on the Royal Lakes Course at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club. The event will be hosted by Bowling Green.
The Chippewas will then partake in two tournaments from March 9-12 in Jacksonville, Florida, both of which will be hosted by Butler. The first is the Benbow Collegiate Tournament at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club; the second is the Bulldog Florida Invitational at Windsor Parke Golf Club.
March 29-30, CMU will play in the Southern Illinois Saluki Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale, Ill.
The Chippewas' final tournament before the MAC Championship is the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational at Stone Ridge Golf Club in Bowling Green, Ohio. That tournament will be hosted by Bowling Green.
