SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan golf team will partake in the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate, hosted by Georgia State, at Eagle’s Landing Country Club in Stockbridge, Ga., about 25 miles south of Atlanta, beginning on Sunday.
The 54-hole stroke-play tournament comprises 17 teams and will be played over three days.
Joining the Chippewas and the host Panthers are Appalachian State, Eastern Kentucky, Elon, Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, James Madison, Morehead State, Murray State, Samford, South Alabama, Tulsa, UAB, Western Kentucky, Western Michigan and Winthrop.
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas finished 11th in a 14-team field at the Spring Break Shootout at Lake Jovita Golf Club in Dade City, Fla. The Chippewas finished with a 934 team total, and were just six shots behind the seventh-place team.
The Chippewas posted a program-record 304 total in the second round of the tournament. That performance was triggered by junior Brian Colosky, who posted a program-record 69 in the round.
CMU shot 338-327-318 – 983 to finish in 15th place in the 15-team field at the Panther Intercollegiate.
