SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan golf team will join nine other teams for the Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend at Naperville Country Club.
The field comprises the Chippewas along with Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo and Western Michigan. Kent State, which is ranked 18th nationally, has won every MAC title since the inception of the league championships in 1999. Northern Illinois is the host.
The 54-hole stroke-play tournament begins on Friday at 10 a.m. and concludes on Sunday. The teams are scheduled to play 18 holes each day. Naperville CC will play to par 72 over 6,028 yards.
