Chippewa Golf Program Adds Clarkston Standout

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan golf coach Cheryl Stacy announced the signing of Meghan Deardorff of Clarkston, Mich., to a National Letter of Intent.

Deardorff, who in 2016 finished tied for second in the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division I State Tournament, will join the Chippewas for the 2017-18 season.

“She brings to the team enthusiasm for the game, athleticism, and a strong work ethic,” Stacy said. “I think she’ll fit in well with our team culture.”

Deardorff joins November signees Rachel Leucuta of Downers Grove, Ill., and Jami Laude of Ann Arbor in the class of 2017. All three will be eligible in fall, 2017 season. The current seven-player roster does not include a senior.

Last summer, Deardorff finished 23rd in the Golf Association of Michigan Women’s Stroke Play Championship and was 39th in the GAM Women’s Michigan Amateur. In September, she placed fifth in a Golfweek Junior Tour event in Dayton, Ohio.

Last fall, Deardoff was named to the Michigan Interscholastic Golf Coaches Association Division I All-State First Team, and to the Oakland County Golf Coaches Association All-County First Team. She posted seven top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments during the high school season, including a fourth in the Oakland County Championships and a fifth in the an MHSAA Division I Regional.

She posted a career 18-hole scoring average of 78.4 at Clarkston.
