MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Central Michigan women’s golf team will open the fall season at the Mary Fossum Invitational, hosted by Michigan State, on Forest Akers West Golf Course in East Lansing, Mich.
This marks the second season for the program, which was resurrected in 2014 after a 32-year hiatus.
The Fossum, a two-day, 54-hole stroke play event, is the first of five tournaments in which the Chippewas are scheduled to play this fall.
Also on the slate are the Cardinal Classic, hosted by Ball State; the Rocket Classic, hosted by Toledo; the MAC Fall Preview, hosted by Eastern Michigan; and the Dayton Flyers Fall Invitational.
“I am very excited about our upcoming tournament schedule for the 2015-16 season,” said Cheryl Stacy, who is entering her first full season as the Chippewas’ coach. “It’s a very well-balanced and high-quality competitive schedule. Our student-athletes will get the opportunity to travel to parts of the United States that maybe they have never seen before.
“They will experience different levels of competition and golf courses that will strengthen their golf games and help them grow as student-athletes.”
