ROCHESTER, Mich. - The Central Michigan women's golf team will tee it up this weekend in the two-day, 36-hole Golden Grizzlies Invitational, hosted by Oakland, at Katke-Cousins Golf Course.
The Chippewas will join the host Golden Grizzlies along with Ohio, Bowling Green, Youngstown State and Detroit. The tournament is set for two 18-hole rounds, one Saturday, the second and final on Sunday. Both begin with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
Katke-Cousins plays to par 72 over 6,148 yards.
It is the fourth tournament this season for CMU, which resurrected its women's golf program after a 32-year hiatus. The eight-player Chippewa roster includes six freshmen.
CMU is coming off a 15th-place finish at the Ball State Cardinal Classic, during which freshman Chloe Guschewski closed with a final-round 76 to tie for the second-best 18-hole score in school history.
The Chippewas made a 21-stroke improvement from the first to the second round at the Cardinal Classic. CMU closes the fall portion of its schedule with the Rocket Classic, hosted by Toledo, on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13-14.
