MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – Central Michigan women’s golf coach Cheryl Stacy has announced the signing of two players.
Katie Logan of Southgate and Danielle Sawyer of Grafton, Ont., will join the Chippewas beginning in the fall, 2016, season.
“I am extremely excited about the signing of Danielle Sawyer and Katie Logan,” Stacy said. “They are both multi-sport athletes who have the work ethic and competitiveness I am looking for to help build our golf program.
“Their commitment to academic and athletic excellence is the perfect fit for our Championship Culture. I look forward to having them on campus next fall and welcome them to our Chippewa golf family."
Logan, who is a four-year letterwinner on the boys team at Cabrini High School in Allen Park, placed third this fall in the Catholic League Championships.
Among the highlights of Logan’s resumé are a seventh-place tie last summer in the Golf Association of Michigan Girls Junior State Amateur, and a 36th-place finish in the Michigan Women’s Amateur.
Sawyer is a product of St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Cobourg, Ont., about 65 miles east of Toronto. She is a three-time Central Ontario Junior Girls High School Champion, a two-time team MVP at St. Mary, and recorded top-10 finishes three times in the All-Ontario High School Championships.
Her extensive resumé includes several CN Future Links and American Junior Golf Association events, including top 10s in the Hurricane Junior Shootout, the Ontario Championship, the Ontario Junior Girls Spring Championship, the Ontario Junior Summer Games, the Quebec Championships.
Sawyer averaged 78 for 18 holes last season and her career low is 69.
