The Central Michigan gymnastics team will go to Illinois State on Friday (8 p.m.) for a nonconference meet. It is the second meeting between the two teams this season.
WHERE THEY STAND
CMU is 4-1, 4-0 MAC and is ranked 19th nationally with a 195.565 average. The Chippewas are ranked 16th nationally on uneven bars, 20th on balance beam, 28th on floor exercise, and 32nd on vault. The Chippewas’ best score this season is a 196.375, which came against Illinois State in the season opener at McGuirk Arena on Jan. 6.
Illinois State is 1-2 and coming off its first win of the season against Alaska Anchorage, with a score of 188.825.
LAST TIME OUT
The Chippewas posted a 195.675 against Southern Utah in nonleague dual loss last weekend at McGuirk Arena. It was CMU’s first loss of the season.
The 196.375 that CMU posted at home against Illinois State was the highest for a season opener in program history. The score also tied for the 10th-highest in program history.
The Chippewas return to McGuirk Arena on Sunday, Feb. 18, to entertain Kent State in a MAC meet. CMU is 3-0 in the MAC. Kent State, which goes to Western Michigan on Sunday, is 4-2, 1-1 MAC.
