Soccer Entertains Detroit Mercy On Sunday

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Central Michigan soccer team will play host to Detroit Mercy on Sunday (1 p.m.) at the CMU Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.

WHERE THEY STAND
• CMU is 3-2-1 after splitting its games at the Marquette Invitational last weekend. The Chippewas dropped their first game to Marquette, 1-0, on Friday, then bounced back with an overtime win over Loyola, 2-1.
• The Chippewas have won three of their last four starts. Two of those wins have come in overtime. CMU went 3-1-3 in overtime games last season.
• Detroit Mercy is 2-4-1. The Titans have lost their last four starts.

LEADERS
• Junior Madison Costner leads Central Michigan with nine points (four goals, one assist). She ranks second among MAC players in both goals and points.
• Chippewa goalkeeper Zoie Reed has tallied a league-high 34 saves on the season.
• Rachel Russo leads Detroit Mercy in goals with four.  

NEXT
• The Chippewas are scheduled to host Mount St. Mary's - coached by former CMU assistant Joe Nemzer -- on Saturday, Sept. 16, in their final non-conference game.
• Mount St. Mary's is 3-4 heading into a game on Sunday against VMI.
• CMU kicks off Mid-American Conference play at Kent State on Sept. 22.
