SETTING THE SCENE
The Central Michigan soccer team is scheduled to play two Mid-American Conference games on the road, the first against Miami (Ohio) on Friday (4 p.m.) and the second against Ball State on Sunday (2 p.m.).
CMU is 6-5-3 (1-3-2 MAC) after splitting two MAC games last weekend. It topped Toledo, 5-0, at home and then fell at Bowling Green, 3-1.
Lexi Pelafas leads the MAC in goals with 12. The junior was named MAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals last weekend, including her second hat trick of the season against Toledo.
Chippewa goalkeeper Zoie Reed has racked up 59 saves this season.
CMU's Madison Pogarch is tied for third in the league with four assists.
Miami is looking for its first win of the season. The RedHawks are 0-12-1, 0-5-1.
The Redhawks dropped a 2-1 overtime decision to Northern Illinois last Thursday and fell to Western Michigan on Sunday, 1-0.
Olivia Winnett leads Miami in points with five (two goals, one assist).
Ball State (6-6-2, 4-1-1 MAC) topped Western Michigan, 1-0, and fell to Northern Illinois, 3-2, last weekend. Ball State is the two-time defending regular-season MAC champion.
Julia Elvbo and Sam Kambol lead the Cardinals with four goals apiece.
Alyssa Heintschel has made 35 saves for Ball State in goal while Tristin Stuteville has recorded 19.
Central Michigan will return home on Thursday, Oct. 19 for a MAC matchup against Northern Illinois (7-5-1, 4-2-0).
