CMU’s pitching staff improved from the opening weekend as well, posting a combined 2.50 earned run average in Virginia. The staff ERA was 3.11 in Georgia.
Underwood, a junior first baseman from Pittsford, hit .571 (8 for 14) with two doubles and her team-leading fourth home run in leading CMU to a 3-1 finish last weekend at the Liberty Softball Challenge in Lynchburg, Va.
CMU junior first baseman Erika Underwood continued her hot start at the plate, collecting a combined six hits in the two games.
CMU will close the challenge on Friday with a rematch against Delaware State (1 p.m.) and Liberty (6 p.m.). Delaware State is 0-2, Liberty 6-1.
