MACON, Ga. - The Central Michigan softball team dropped both of its games on Saturday on day two of the Mercer Invitational.
The Chippewas fell to Morehead State, 3-2, and then dropped an 8-3 decision in the nightcap against Mercer. CMU (1-3) is scheduled to close the invitational on Sunday (11 a.m.) against Appalachian State.
The Chippewas defeated the Mountaineers, 12-6, on Friday.
Morehead State scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to overcome a 2-1 deficit.
Cloe Mallory started went six innings in the circle for the Chippewas, striking out three and walking four. Taylor Weaver took the loss, and striking out one.
The Chippewas finished with three hits, singles by Lacy Tolfree, Maison Kalina and Samantha Howell.
Erika Underwood hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning for the Chippewas. It was her third home run of the season.
CMU collected six hits, two by Tolfree, and Morgan Gardner picked up an RBI. CMU committed five errors in the game.
Hanna Warren (0-2) started and went 5 1/3 innings in taking the loss. She struck out five.
