CMU closes the nonconference portion of the schedule at the Notre Dame Tournament, where it is slated to play Southern Illinois, Michigan State, and the Fighting Irish. Second-year CMU coach Mike Gawlik was a longtime assistant at Michigan State before taking over the Chippewa program.
The Chippewas’ recruiting class, comprising five players, received honorable mention from the publication. CMU is one of 72 programs to receive honorable mention behind a ranking of the top 30. NCAA Division I volleyball comprises 334 programs.
Kalina Smith and Hannah Warners will join three players – Grace Butler of Hawthorn Woods, Ill., Lyza Myers of Napoleon, and Miani Boldon of Homewood, Ill. – who signed with the Chippewas in November.
The spring schedule concludes with an April 14 matchup at McGuirk Arena with Western Michigan that will simulate a regular-season match.
